Stone Shapes

Quarried stone for construction purposes comes in a great variety of shapes.  There are rough stone shapes such as rubblestone and fieldstone.  There are irregular flat shapes such as flagstone.  Stone is cut to fit specific stone usage requirements.  There are cut shapes such as ledgers or ledgestones, strips, and blocks.

Dimensional stone has specific and exact dimensions and shape.  A typical example of dimensional stone is the stone trim around windows and doors.  Dimensional stone is preferred and rough stone is rarely used for such things as window and door surrounds, watertable, and cornice.
